    Download the installer

    Go to the official download page and select the version matching your system architecture. For most modern PCs, choose Windows x64 (64-bit). The file is only about 1.6 MB.

    Run the installer

    Locate the downloaded .exe file (usually in your Downloads folder) and double-click it. If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes to allow the installer to run.

    Choose install location

    The default installation path is C:\Program Files\7-Zip. You can change this if needed, but the default is recommended. Click Install to begin.

    Complete installation

    Installation takes only a few seconds. Click Finish when done. 7-Zip is now installed and integrated into your Windows Explorer right-click menu.

    Verify installation

    Right-click any file or folder in Windows Explorer. You should see a "7-Zip" entry in the context menu with options to add to archive, extract, and more.
